Kia Ceed Lineup Reshuffled And Upgraded For 2021, Gets New 156 HP 1.5L Petrol Engine

While showcasing its new logo and slogan, Kia has also pulled the cover off Europe’s 2021 Ceed lineup, which features enhanced technology and powertrain upgrades, while retaining the looks.

The compact moodel can now be ordered with a new engine. The 1.5-liter T-GDi unit develops 158 PS (156 HP / 116 kW) at 5,500 rpm and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque at 1,500-3,500 rpm. It is paired to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and it has replaced the 138 PS (136 HP / 101 kW) 1.4-liter T-GDi.
All Ceed models can be had with a new mild-hybrid powertrain too, which combines a 1.6-liter diesel engine, said to be Kia’s cleanest oil-burner ever made, with a 48-volt system. It uses Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) active emissions control technology to lower emissions and produces 134 PS (132 HP / 98 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque when ordered with the stick shift, which is all-new, or 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) when mated to the seven-speed dual-clutch.

The 2021 Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon lineup still comprises of the same trim levels, although the seven-speed DCT is now standard on the flagship GT, replacing the six-speed manual. The Silver Frost paint finish is a no-cost option on the same grade, replacing the Track Red, and the Blue Flame metallic has been added to the color palette. All Ceed models feature Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with pedestrian detection, and the GT-Line S, ‘3’ manual and GT-Line get cyclist detection.
The 2021 ProCeed is only available with the new 1.5-liter T-GDi petrol engine and gets the same upgrades as the regular Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon.
The 2021 XCeed also gets the new engine, as well as the 48V mild-hybrid diesel. The ‘4’ has replaced the First Edition as the new range-topping grade.
UK pricing for the Ceed hatchback starts at lb19,700 ($26,786). The Ceed Sportswagon and the ProCeed can be had from lb20,400 ($27,737) and lb25,075 ($34,094) respectively, and the XCeed kicks off from lb21,050 ($28,621).
